Farmers’ Party of Tanzania (AAFP) presidential candidate Kunje Ngombale Mwiru has pledged to deliver major social and economic reforms in Morogoro Region if elected in the upcoming general election.
Addressing a rally at Mawenzi market grounds on September 4, Mr. Mwiru outlined his priorities, which include modern road networks, improved health and education services, reliable water supply, and upgraded market facilities.
He said Morogoro, despite being rich in agricultural produce and mineral resources, continues to face unemployment and underdevelopment.
“This region is blessed with crops and minerals such as rubies, yet many residents do not benefit. My administration will prioritize Tanzanians, especially farmers, miners, and livestock keepers,” he said.
The candidate pledged to modernize Morogoro’s main market, describing its current condition as unfit for food storage.
He said that, within two years of his presidency, he would ensure the construction of a multi-storey facility with modern infrastructure to support trade and food safety.
Mr. Mwiru also promised to establish stone-crushing plants in every district to create jobs for young people while supplying building materials to improve local infrastructure.
On education, he said teachers would be given decent housing and better working conditions, recognizing their role in nation building.
He further announced plans to move electricity distribution lines underground in urban areas to improve public safety, citing international practices.
The AAFP candidate added that his administration would strengthen efforts against corruption and illegal immigration, noting that tighter border controls and local monitoring would be part of the strategy.
Calling on voters to support him in the October 29 elections, Mr. Mwiru said the AAFP’s symbol the hoe represented the hardworking citizens who form the backbone of the economy.
