The Government of the United Republic of Tanzania has officially handed over the land title deed to Young Africans SC (Yanga) for the construction of their long-awaited Uwanja wa Wananchi at Jangwani, Dar es Salaam.

The handover was presided over by the Minister for Lands, Housing, and Human Settlements Development, Deogratius Ndejembi, during the climax of Wiki ya Mwananchi celebrations held at Benjamin Mkapa Stadium.

Minister Ndejembi recalled that the commitment was made recently during Yanga’s Annual General Meeting, when he promised via a phone call that the process would be finalized within two weeks.

“The procedures for securing this title deed were carried out strictly in line with the law. Today, we have completed the process and handed it over so that the fans’ dream of building a stadium can begin to materialize,” he said.

Yanga President, Engineer Hersi Said, hailed the development as a historic milestone for the club and extended his appreciation to President Samia Suluhu Hassan for her support.

“This matter began with President Samia at State House, where she gave a clear directive that has now been implemented. We are truly grateful,” said Hersi, adding that GSM will serve as the official investor for the Jangwani stadium project.

The announcement was met with excitement from Yanga supporters, who filled Benjamin Mkapa Stadium to celebrate Wiki ya Mwananchi

The day featured a friendly international match between Yanga and Kenya’s Bandari FC, preceded by live performances, including a show by award-winning artist Zuhura Othman, popularly known as Zuchu.

For Yanga, one of Tanzania’s most storied football clubs, the handing over of the title deed marks the beginning of a new chapter in its ambition to build a modern stadium that will serve its growing fan base.
