Dr. Serera commends NEMC’s push for green investment at Intra-African trade fair in Algeria

Deputy Permanent Secretary for Industry and Trade, Dr. Suleiman Serera, has applauded the National Environment Management Council (NEMC) for its efforts in educating stakeholders and investors from across Africa during the ongoing Intra-African Trade Fair (IATF) in Algiers, Algeria.

The fair runs from September 4 to 10, 2025.

Dr. Serera, who is leading the Tanzanian delegation to the exhibition, made the remarks after visiting the Tanzania pavilion, accompanied by Tanzania’s Ambassador to Algeria, Amb. Iman S. Njalikai.

“The industrial economy we envision is one that values environmental conservation. By participating here, NEMC is sending a clear message to investors that while Tanzania is open for business, environmental protection must remain a priority,” Dr. Serera said.

He further commended NEMC’s approach to simplifying access to information.

“What impressed me most is that there is no bureaucracy. All key information is readily available through QR codes even before investors set foot in Tanzania. I must congratulate NEMC for working efficiently. The environment is life, and we must preserve it so that it sustains us,” he emphasized.

For his part, Ambassador Njalikai urged Tanzanian institutions participating in the fair to take full advantage of the opportunities, particularly in sectors where Algeria has strong expertise.

They include energy; such as gas and oil—fertilizers, and pharmaceuticals, including training opportunities in those areas.

NEMC is among the Tanzanian institutions represented at the fair, with its delegation led by Chief Engineer Peres Ntinginya and Public Relations and Communications Officer Tajiri Kihemba.

Other Tanzanian institutions taking part include the Tanzania Trade Development Authority (TANTRADE), which is coordinating the country’s participation, the Tanzania Medicines and Medical Devices Authority (TMDA), the Fair Competition Commission (FCC), the Tanzania Special Economic Zones Authority (TISEZA), the Petroleum Upstream Regulatory Authority (PURA), the Tanzania Forest Services Agency (TFS), and the Zanzibar Investment Promotion Authority (ZIPA).
