The Tanzania Olympic Committee (TOC) Electoral Commission has announced that nomination forms for various leadership positions within the committee will be available from tomorrow, August 28, until September 1, 2025.
The TOC General Election is scheduled for October 4, 2025, in Morogoro.
Speaking to journalists today, August 27, 2025, TOC Electoral Commission Deputy Chairman Mahangwe Mchungahela outlined the schedule leading up to the election.
He said the forms will be available at the TOC offices in Dar es Salaam and at the main library offices in Zanzibar.
“The process for returning completed forms will take place on September 2 and 3, followed by verification from September 5 to 7,” Mchungahela explained.
He added that the commission will release a preliminary list of candidates on September 8, while the hearing of any objections will take place from September 11 to 14.
“Decisions on objections will be announced on September 16, and candidate interviews will be conducted from September 18 to 21,” he said.
The final list of candidates will be released on September 22, with campaign activities scheduled to run from September 24 until October 3.
Candidates for the positions of President and Vice President are required to pay a nomination fee of TZS 1 million, while candidates for the ten committee member positions from both mainland Tanzania and Zanzibar will pay TZS 500,000.
Deputy Chairman Mchungahela also confirmed that the International Olympic Committee (IOC) plans to send a representative to observe the TOC General Meeting and elections.
