Vodacom Tanzania has launched its Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) Report under the theme “Connecting for Good: People, Planet and Possibilities.”

The report underscores the transformative power of communication services in improving lives, promoting social inclusion, and supporting sustainable development across the country.

The launch, held in Dar es Salaam, was attended by the Minister of State, President’s Office – Planning and Investment, Prof. Kitila Mkumbo, and Philip Besiimire, Managing Director of Vodacom Tanzania.

In his remarks, Prof. Mkumbo highlighted the importance of collaboration between the public and private sectors:

“Traditionally, government is seen as the tax collector and the private sector as the taxpayer. We must look beyond this and recognize each side as a critical partner in nation-building. True collaboration should deliver positive results.”

Philip Besiimire, Vodacom Tanzania’s Managing Director, emphasized the broader role of communication services:

“This ESG Report reflects our commitment to the people of Tanzania. Communication is not just about towers and cables; it is about creating opportunities, empowering communities, and ensuring no one is left behind.”he added

The report details Vodacom Tanzania’s investments in innovations that enable citizens to access digital services, enhance financial inclusion, empower youth, and promote environmental sustainability, all aligned with Tanzania’s Vision 2050.

Organized in partnership with Mwananchi Communications Limited (MCL), the event brought together stakeholders from government, the private sector, and civil society to discuss accountability, purpose-driven business, and the role of technology in national development.

Vodacom Tanzania’s ESG Report reflects its ongoing commitment to fostering meaningful change and ensuring that technology serves as a bridge to opportunity, inclusion, and sustainable growth.
