Simba SC of Tanzania and Fassell FC of Liberia played out an even contest in an international friendly match held on August 27 in Egypt.

Simba, who finished second in the NBC Tanzania Premier League last season, faced Fassell, the reigning champions of the Liberian top flight.

The Tanzanian side started aggressively, dominating early play and pressing deep into Fassell’s half. By the 20th minute, they had created several scoring opportunities, although none were converted.

Striker Mutale proved a constant threat to Fassell’s defense, crafting multiple chances that went unused.

In the 27th minute, Simba broke the deadlock when Jonathan Sowah scored the opening goal. He finished off a clever pass from Steven Mukwala, who had outmaneuvered Fassell’s defenders outside the 18-yard box.

The goal highlighted Simba’s sharp attacking coordination and held the lead for seven minutes.

Fassell responded in the 34th minute, equalizing from a penalty after a defensive foul inside the box. The first half ended 1-1, with both teams going into the break on level terms.

In the second half, both teams returned with renewed energy. Simba’s coach, Fadlu Davids, made tactical changes, substituting Awesu and Bushiri Salum for Nandy Camara and Morice Abraham. Despite increasing their attacking pressure, Simba was unable to find a second goal.

Further changes came in the 80th minute, with Mukwala and Sowah being replaced by Valentino Mashaka and Kibu Denis.

Simba SC is scheduled to return to Tanzania on August 29, concluding their training camp in Egypt in preparation for the 2025/26 season.
