President Samia Suluhu Hassan has appointed Amos Makalla as the new Regional Commissioner (RC) for Arusha, effective Saturday, August 23, 2025.
He succeeds Kenani Kihongosi, who has been appointed Secretary for Ideology, Propaganda, and Training at Chama Cha Mapinduzi (CCM).
Makalla previously held the CCM position of Secretary for Ideology, Propaganda, and Training, giving him extensive experience in political leadership and organizational management.
His new role as Arusha RC places him at the forefront of regional administration, development planning, and coordination of government programs in one of Tanzania’s key regions.
The President’s Communications Directorate at State House announced that Makalla will be officially sworn in on August 26, 2025, at Chamwino State House in Dodoma.
Observers expect his leadership to strengthen governance and accelerate socio-economic development in Arusha.
