NHC tops commercial institutions at TR Office's awards

By Alfred Zacharia

The National Housing Corporation (NHC) has been named the top-performing commercial public institution at the Treasury Registrar’s awards, recognizing state-owned entities that have excelled in financial and operational performance.

NHC was commended for strong growth in revenue, profit margins, liquidity, and returns on government capital.

Other winners in the commercial category included the Medical Stores Department (MSD) and the State Mining Corporation (STAMICO).

The Tanzania Petroleum Development Corporation (TPDC) and Arusha International Conference Centre (AICC) were also recognized for their achievements.

The awards assessed institutions based on internal revenue growth, expenditure control, profitability, liquidity, return on investment, reduced dependence on government subsidies, audit recommendation implementation, financial transparency, and service delivery improvements.

The ceremony, which brought together board chairpersons and chief executive officers of public institutions, was officially opened by Vice President Dr. Philip Mpango in Arusha on Sunday.
