KT Veterans Sports Club has expressed its delight following Taifa Stars’ commanding 2–0 win over Burkina Faso in the opening match of the 2024 African Nations Championship (CHAN), held last night at the Benjamin Mkapa Stadium in Dar es Salaam.

The victory marked a strong start for Tanzania’s national team, earning praise from fans and stakeholders across the sports fraternity.

KT Veterans Chairman, Hassan Hassanol, commended the players and the technical bench for their discipline and tactical execution throughout the match.

“It was a beautiful game. Taifa Stars performed exceptionally well under the guidance of the coaching staff. The players followed instructions, fought with heart, and showed a strong sense of patriotism. This performance sets a solid foundation for the rest of the tournament,” said Hassanol.

He emphasized that the club had unwavering confidence in Head Coach Hemed Morocco and his technical team, even before the match.

“From the beginning, we believed in Coach Morocco and his team. We were confident in their preparation and game plan. Based on what we saw, the upcoming matches should be even more manageable than this one against Burkina Faso,” he added.

KT Veterans Vice Chairman, Moord Sebene, praised the overall organization of CHAN 2024, stating that the tournament is not only uplifting the standards of football but also contributing to economic activity.

“The preparations for CHAN have been impressive. The tournament is a catalyst for both sports development and economic stimulation, engaging many stakeholders across sectors,” he said.

Club Secretary, Peter Mchalumbi, highlighted the opportunity presented by the championship in boosting tourism and foreign exchange earnings.

“Major sporting events like CHAN bring foreign visitors who spend money on accommodation, transport, and other services. This translates into increased foreign currency inflows and broader economic benefits for the country,” Mchalumbi explained.

KT Veterans reaffirmed their commitment to supporting the national team throughout the tournament. For the opening match, the club facilitated transport for fans to attend the game and promised to organize similar support for future fixtures.

“We stand firmly behind Taifa Stars. As we did in the first game, we will continue to rally support and mobilize fans to create a strong home-ground advantage,” said Hassanol.

The win over Burkina Faso has lifted national morale and raised expectations for Taifa Stars to advance deep into the tournament. The team’s next match is eagerly anticipated as fans hope for another spirited performance.
