JKT Stars and Dar City made impressive starts in the first-leg games of the quarterfinal stage of the Dar es Salaam Regional Basketball League (BDL).
JKT Stars dominated the court with a 52-36 victory over Vijana Queens, while Jeshi Stars overpowered Pazi Queens with a 79-52 win in the women’s category.
In the men’s division, Dar City showcased their strength by thrashing Srelio 90-55, and Pazi secured a 63-50 win against ABC.
Speaking about the tournament structure, Haleluya Kavalambi explained that these matches are crucial in determining which teams will qualify for the semifinals and eventually the finals.
He noted that competition has intensified since the group stages, with teams investing in international signings and rigorous training to boost their performance.
“This level of competition continues to grow because of the incentives provided by sponsors through performance bonuses for outstanding players and teams. This has significantly motivated players to showcase their best skills,” he said.
