Teams Genesis, Bandari, and KIUT have impressively closed the first round of the Tanzania Volleyball National League (TVNL) held this August.
In the men’s Category B, Genesis leads with 16 points, followed closely by High Voltage with 15 points. Bandari is third with 11 points, Nyika takes fourth place with 10 points, and Moro Warriors rounds out the top five with 5 points.
Meanwhile, in men’s Category A, KIUT tops the table with 16 points. Jeshi Stars follow with 14 points, while JKT and Tanzania Prisons share 12 points each, occupying the third and fourth spots respectively. Kigoma Ports finished fifth, also with 12 points, but trailing on sets.
In the women’s league, Bandari leads with 14 points, just ahead of the defending champions Tanzania Prisons and KIUT, both with 13 points. Jeshi Stars occupy fourth place with 11 points, while Korosho Queens hold the fifth position. Each team played six matches during the first round.
Speaking to The Respondent Online, Zakaria Bizimana, Technical Director of the Tanzania Volleyball Federation (TVF), praised the teams for their high level of competition, particularly commending the newcomers.
“Genesis, as a new team, has injected great competition this season, which has been encouraging and shows the progress of our league,” Bizimana said.
He noted that all teams now have a clear understanding of their standings as they prepare for the second round. The upcoming round will determine which teams advance to the quarterfinals.
Bizimana urged all teams to refine their strategies and come back stronger, promising even fiercer competition in the next phase.
