Airtel Africa has entered into a multi-year, multi-million dollar strategic partnership with Xtelify, the digital arm of Airtel India, in a move aimed at accelerating digital transformation across its 14 African markets.

Under the agreement, Xtelify will deploy its suite of advanced software platforms – Data Engine, Work, and IQ – to enable Airtel Africa to simplify operations, personalize customer experiences, and boost operational efficiency.

The AI-powered Xtelify platform promises to streamline telco operations by addressing the entire telecom value chain. It includes a converged data engine for AI-driven insights, a workforce platform to optimize field operations in real time, and a customer experience platform to manage end-to-end engagement.

“With this partnership, we are making a transformative leap in our mission to build Africa’s digital future,” said Jacques Barkhuizen, Group Chief Information Officer at Airtel Africa.

He added that “By leveraging Airtel’s proven AI platforms from India, we’re simplifying operations and enhancing personalized experiences for our customers. This is Airtel leveraging Airtel – a powerful synergy that drives sustainable growth and innovation.”

Airtel Africa’s 150,000-strong field team is expected to benefit directly from Xtelify’s tools, gaining access to market insights that will support micro-targeted strategies and unlock use cases such as spam and fraud protection.

Xtelify IQ, meanwhile, will enable secure, real-time omnichannel engagement, helping to elevate service quality and reduce churn while raising average revenue per user (ARPU).

Binod Srivastava, Chief Business Officer – Global Business at Bharti Airtel, said, “We’re excited to bring the power of Xtelify to Airtel Africa. This collaboration is about tackling industry challenges like spam and fraud head-on, while delivering cutting-edge digital experiences. We look forward to redefining benchmarks together.”

In addition to the Africa deal, Xtelify also unveiled its sovereign, telco-grade Airtel Cloud, originally developed to process 140 crore transactions per minute for Airtel India.

Hosted on next-generation sustainable data centers, the cloud platform offers IaaS, PaaS, advanced connectivity, and Gen-AI-based provisioning, with no vendor lock-ins.

While the Airtel Cloud is currently targeted at the Indian market, its launch underscores Airtel’s broader ambitions to redefine digital infrastructure with secure, scalable, and cost-efficient solutions.
