The ruling Chama Cha Mapinduzi (CCM) has officially appointed five former Chadema Members of Parliament to run on its ticket in the upcoming 2025 general elections.
These MPs joined CCM following the dissolution of the 12th Parliament, signaling a significant shift in the political landscape.
The newly appointed candidates and their constituencies are Esther Matiko (Tarime Town), Ester Bulaya (Bunda Town), Hawa Mwaifunga (Tabora Town), Kunti Majala (Chemba), and Jesca Kishoa (East Iramba).
The announcement was made on Saturday, August 23, 2025, by Amos Makalla, CCM Secretary for Ideology, Propaganda, and Training, who also unveiled the full list of candidates who will contest under the party’s banner in the October polls.
Political analysts say the inclusion of these former opposition MPs strengthens CCM’s presence in key constituencies, reflecting the party’s strategy to consolidate support ahead of the elections.
