The Ministry of Finance has launched a digital licensing platform aimed at modernizing the registration and operations of public auction brokers across Tanzania.
The new system allows brokers to apply for and receive licenses electronically using mobile phones or laptops significantly cutting costs and eliminating the need to travel to Dodoma for license processing.
Speaking at the Ministry’s pavilion during the ongoing Nane Nane National Agricultural Exhibition at Nzuguni Grounds in Dodoma, the Government Assets Supervisor, Mr. George Killo, said the system has been designed to enhance efficiency and accessibility for Tanzanians engaged in auctioneering and related services.
“This digital platform empowers applicants to complete the entire registration process from wherever they are,” said Mr. Killo.
“It simplifies the procedure, saves time, and ensures timely access to licenses.”he added
To initiate the application process, brokers are required to visit the Ministry’s official website at www.mof.go.tz, select the GAMIS portal, fill in the necessary details, and submit completed application forms to their respective District Executive Directors for verification and endorsement.
Required supporting documents include a fully filled and signed application form, business license, tax clearance certificate, and certificate of incorporation (if applicable). All attachments must be uploaded in PDF format.
Mr. Killo noted that the system provides real-time updates on the application status—indicating whether it has been submitted, rejected, or approved.
Once approved, successful applicants will be listed on the Ministry’s website and can collect their licenses from Government Assets Offices in their respective regions.
“These licenses authorize brokers to conduct public auctions, recover debts, collect statutory fees and levies, and act as court, land, or property brokers,” he explained.
“They are valid for a full year (January to December) at a cost of TSh 150,000, or for six months either January to June or July to December for TSh 75,000.”he added
He stressed that any individual or firm operating public auctions on the Tanzanian mainland must be registered and hold a valid, up-to-date license issued by the Ministry of Finance.
The Ministry is showcasing the new e-licensing system as part of its broader participation in the 2025 Nane Nane National Exhibition, held under the theme: “Elect Better Leaders for Sustainable Agricultural and Fisheries Development in 2025.”
The Ministry’s presence underscores its commitment to leveraging digital tools to support economic growth, accountability, and transparency in public asset management.
