The Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Community Development, Gender, Women and Special Groups, Dr John Jingu, has called on the newly inaugurated Examination Board for Community Development and Technical Colleges to uphold integrity and professionalism in administering examinations to ensure the production of highly competent graduates.

Speaking during the official launch of the new board in Dodoma on August 7, 2025, Dr Jingu emphasized the critical role of standardized assessments in shaping the future workforce of Tanzania, particularly in the area of community development.

“Community development professionals are the heartbeat of our nation,” he said. “It is therefore imperative that the board ensures strict adherence to examination procedures and professional ethics, so that the graduates we produce are not only skilled but also impactful in addressing community needs.”

The newly appointed board replaces the outgoing one whose tenure ended this year. Dr Jingu urged members to maintain high standards and compliance with legal and institutional frameworks governing national examinations.

He further challenged academic instructors in community development institutions to embrace digital learning tools and integrate Information and Communication Technology (ICT) into teaching.

This, he said, would align training with global technological advancements and prepare students for a fast-evolving job market.

“Incorporating ICT in teaching is no longer optional it is essential,” Dr Jingu stressed. “Our students must be technologically literate and adaptable, to effectively serve communities and contribute to socio-economic development.”

Outgoing board chairperson, Dr Christina Mandara, who served from 2018/2019 to 2024/2025, thanked the Ministry for the opportunity to lead and contribute to strengthening examination systems in community development colleges.

She noted that the sector has evolved, with greater emphasis on quality assurance and student competence.

Meanwhile, the newly appointed board chairperson, Dr Sanford Sanga, expressed gratitude for the trust placed in him and vowed to maintain the board’s credibility and commitment to academic excellence.

“We are committed to fulfilling this mandate with diligence, ensuring all processes comply with regulations, and that our students graduate with skills that directly support national development goals,” said Dr Sanga.

The reconstitution of the examination board comes at a time when Tanzania is pushing to improve vocational and community-based education, with the goal of creating a skilled, self-reliant, and socially responsible population.
