Forty boxing coaches from four African countries are poised to receive their One-Star International Boxing Association (IBA) coaching certificates after successfully completing a rigorous online training course that concluded yesterday.

The program, jointly organized by the Boxing Federation of Tanzania (BFT) and the International Boxing Association (IBA), ran from July 28 to August 6 this year.

It brought together 30 coaches from Tanzania and 10 participants from Singapore, Ethiopia, and Burundi, all invited to participate in this internationally recognized course.

Speaking to The Respondent Online, BFT Secretary-General Makore Mashaga emphasized the importance of including participants from across Africa to elevate the standard of coaching to a global level.

“International coaching courses must involve a diverse range of countries to ensure the training reflects global best practices,” Mashaga explained.

“We are currently awaiting the final results and certification of successful candidates. Within the next week, we expect to increase the number of our nationally qualified coaches who will be equipped to lead our national boxing teams in future international competitions.”he added

Mashaga highlighted that this certification will significantly enhance the coaching capacity within Tanzania and across the region by producing highly skilled coaches capable of supporting national teams on the world stage. Additionally, it opens pathways for coaches to work both locally and internationally.

“This initiative will enable coaches to impart high-quality training, helping to discover and develop boxing talent that will proudly represent our nations in various international arenas,” he added.

One of the participants, Muhsin Mng’ola, expressed excitement about applying the skills acquired from the course.

“I am committed to putting the training into practice to improve the quality of boxing coaching in my community,” said Mng’ola.

“The experience was enriching, and I hope the results will be positive. My dream is to contribute meaningfully to advancing our boxing teams’ success on the international stage.”he added
