Digital system launched to streamline labour dispute resolution

The government has taken a major step in modernizing labour dispute resolution with the launch of the Online Case Management System (OCMS).

The system was unveiled on August 22, 2025, in Dodoma by the Minister of State in the Prime Minister’s Office for Labour, Youth, Employment, and Persons with Disabilities, Ridhiwani Kikwete.

Speaking at the launch of electronic systems and official guidelines for the Prime Minister’s Office, Kikwete said the platform will remove the need for stakeholders to travel long distances, reducing both cost and time in pursuing their cases.

“This initiative is part of the government’s strategy to improve labour justice services nationwide. On International Workers’ Day, May 1, 2025, the President announced plans for a digital solution to enhance the efficiency of the CMA in resolving disputes on time,” he said.

The OCMS allows citizens to register and follow up on disputes from anywhere using internet-enabled devices such as smartphones or computers, eliminating the need to visit Commission offices physically.

In addition to the OCMS, Kikwete also launched the 2025 National Labour Market Information System and several official guidelines, including the 2025 Guide for Dialogue Between the Government, Trade Unions, and Employers’ Associations; the 2025 Coordination Guide for Organisations of Persons with Disabilities; and the 2025 Private Employment Agency Guidelines.

The move is seen as a landmark step toward digital transformation in labour services, making justice more accessible, efficient, and responsive to the needs of citizens across Tanzania.
