SHIMISEMITA tournament to commence on August 15 in Tanga

The Tanzania Local Government Sports Federation (SHIMISEMITA) is set to ignite competitive spirit as its annual sports tournament is scheduled to take place from August 15 to 29 at Mkwakwani Stadium in Tanga City.

According to Masau Bwire, the Federation’s spokesperson, preparations are in full swing, with key activities such as player registration already underway.

Bwire confirmed that registration forms have been distributed to all participating local councils, with a firm deadline of August 14 for submission.

He urged councils to complete their registration processes promptly to enable the organizing committee to finalize schedules and logistics.

“We anticipate participation from 184 councils competing across 15 different sports disciplines. Given the large number of teams, it is imperative that every council completes its player registration on time to allow proper planning of fixtures, groupings, and the opening ceremony scheduled for August 15,” Bwire said.

He also emphasized that registration forms must be endorsed by council directors to verify the eligibility of players, ensuring that only bona fide local government employees participate and preventing unauthorized involvement. The competition targets town, municipal, and district councils from across Tanzania.
