Zanzibar promotes investment at Tanzania Trade Fair (Sabasaba)

Zanzibar is seeking to attract foreign and domestic investment through a dedicated business day at Tanzania’s 49th Dar es Salaam International Trade Fair (DITF), a key annual platform for regional commerce and diplomacy.

Ms. Mwanaidi Ali Khamis, Zanzibar's Deputy Minister for Community Development, Gender, Women and Special Groups, will officiate the “Zanzibar Business Day” on today, where officials from the semi-autonomous archipelago outline strategic investment priorities.

The event, themed “Zanzibar: A Land of Investment Opportunities,” highlighted sectors including tourism, manufacturing, blue economy, and mining.

Government agencies such as the Zanzibar Investment Promotion Authority (ZIPA), the Ministry of Trade and Industrial Development, and the Ministry of Blue Economy and Fisheries presented ongoing reforms and investment frameworks designed to improve the business climate.

Zanzibar is positioning itself as a competitive destination within the Indian Ocean region, leveraging its strategic location, improving infrastructure, and investor incentives. Authorities also used the event to promote cultural tourism, with traditional dress, Swahili language, and taarab music featuring prominently at the pavilion.

The DITF, organized by Tanzania’s Trade Development Authority (TanTrade), has drawn over 500 exhibitors from 23 countries, underscoring growing interest in East Africa as a trade and investment hub.

Zanzibar's participation is part of a broader push to diversify its economy beyond tourism, aligning with its long-term development strategy, Vision 2050.
