Zaidat Products, a Zanzibar-based company that makes cosmetics from seaweed, has signed a product supply agreement with Alhaji PHD Herbs Company.

The deal was signed on Tuesday during Zanzibar Business Day at the ongoing 49th Dar es Salaam International Trade Fair, also known as Sabasaba.

The agreement was signed by Zaidat Products Director General, Ms. Tatu Suleiman, and Mr. Pongwa Sadiki Haji, Chief Executive Officer of Alhaji PHD Herbs Company.

Under the agreement, Alhaji PHD Herbs Company will purchase cosmetic products from Zaidat Products and distribute them in various markets.

Ms. Suleiman said the agreement is a breakthrough for her business. She said it shows growing interest in natural, seaweed-based products.

“I am happy that my products will now reach more people through this partnership. Seaweed is natural and safe, and our cosmetics are free from harmful chemicals,” she said.

She added that her business also helps create jobs and generate income for local seaweed farmers, especially women.

Mr. Haji said the agreement is a great step for his company. He said the signing, witnessed by senior leaders, reflects strong trust in the quality of local products.

The Sabasaba exhibition, organized by the Tanzania Trade Development Authority (TanTrade), has attracted over 5,000 participants from inside and outside the country. It provides opportunities for local manufacturers like Zaidat Products to connect with buyers and investors.
