As excitement builds for the grand final of the Safari Lager youth football initiative, Yanga SC’s youth team is stepping up preparations ahead of their highly anticipated clash with the Safari Lager Champions, scheduled for July 26 at KMC Stadium in Mwenge, Dar es Salaam.
Yanga’s goalkeeping coach, Soud Slim, confirmed on Saturday that training is progressing well, with players showing strong commitment and high morale as they prepare for the encounter.
“We are preparing thoroughly to face our opponents. The players are motivated, and we’re proud to be part of this important initiative. Safari Lager deserves commendation for investing in youth football and unearthing talent from across the country,” said Slim during a media briefing held at Kunduchi grounds in Dar es Salaam, where the 22-man Safari Lager Champions squad was officially unveiled.
Coach Slim noted that while the team is currently undergoing early-stage training, a special residential camp will soon be announced to intensify preparations ahead of the final match.
“This is the second season of the campaign, and it’s already bearing fruit. Last season, we successfully facilitated four players to secure opportunities to play outside Tanzania, which is a clear testament to the value of this platform,” he added.
The Safari Lager talent campaign has been held across four regions Mwanza, Arusha, Mbeya, and Dar es Salaam drawing hundreds of young players competing for a place in the final squad.
Speaking on behalf of his teammates, Yanga youth player Khomein Abubakari expressed their determination to secure victory, stressing that discipline and hard work remain their guiding principles.
“We are fully prepared. Our aim is to follow the tactical instructions given by our coaching staff and make sure we get the result we want. We understand that dedication is the secret to success,” said Abubakari.
Yanga SC’s Content Manager, Abiudi Hayo, popularly known as Priva, called on Tanzanian football fans and the wider public to turn up in large numbers to support the young players and witness the talent on display.
“Our goal is to see new stars emerging through this campaign players who can reach the levels of Pacome Zouzoua and Clement Mzize. This match is more than just a game; it’s a showcase of the future of Tanzanian football,” he said.
With the stage set and the stakes high, the July 26 final promises to be a thrilling celebration of youth talent and a testament to the growing strength of grassroots football in Tanzania.
