The Tanzania Communications Regulatory Authority (TCRA) Zanzibar office, led by Manager Ms. Esuvatie Aisa Masinga, has held a key meeting with hotel managers from the Urban West Region to improve communication systems in hotels and support better service delivery to guests.

Held on July 18, 2025, at the ZSSF Kariakoo Hall, the meeting focused on creating a more reliable and customer friendly communication environment in hotels, especially by guiding hoteliers on how to legally use two way communication radios (VHF/UHF), which are essential for safety and coordination in the hospitality industry.

TCRA officials from both Zanzibar and the Headquarters in Dar es Salaam, including departments responsible for Customer and Consumer Affairs, Frequency Management, Licensing, and Monitoring, made detailed presentations and answered questions raised by the participants.

The goal of the meeting was to ensure that hotels operate in line with communication laws, improve guest experience through better internal coordination, and enhance safety in hotel environments.

TCRA emphasizes a consultative approach to regulation, meaning it listens to stakeholders before making decisions. This approach ensures that both service providers and consumers benefit from improved communication infrastructure and the growing digital and blue economies.

By helping hotels understand and comply with regulations, TCRA is making sure visitors to Zanzibar enjoy safe, connected, and high quality services strengthening the region’s position as a top tourist destination.
