The Tanzania Wildlife Management Authority (TAWA) is showcasing its diverse portfolio of tourism and conservation services at the 49th Dar es Salaam International Trade Fair (DITF), currently taking place at the Mwalimu Julius K. Nyerere Grounds along Kilwa Road.
As part of the Ministry of Natural Resources and Tourism’s exhibition, TAWA is using the platform to promote investment opportunities, public education on wildlife management, and tourism offerings aimed at boosting both domestic and international interest in Tanzania’s natural assets.
Visitors to the Ministry’s pavilion have the opportunity to interact with TAWA officers who are providing information on key investment areas under the authority’s management.
These include Makuyuni Wildlife Park in Arusha, Wami-Mbiki in Morogoro and Coast regions, Pande in Dar es Salaam, Tabora Zoo, and Ruhila Zoo in Ruvuma, among others.
The initiative is part of TAWA’s broader strategy to attract private sector participation in sustainable wildlife tourism.
The pavilion also features a live wildlife display, offering guests an up-close encounter with animals in a controlled and educational setting.
This interactive experience is available at subsidized entry fees for Tanzanians, aiming to increase public engagement and awareness of wildlife conservation.
In addition, visitors are being introduced to various tourism attractions managed by TAWA, complete with details on travel logistics, entry requirements, and costs, making it easier for prospective tourists to plan visits.
A special promotional package has also been unveiled for the Pande Game Reserve in Dar es Salaam, allowing fairgoers to visit the reserve at a discounted rate during the Sabasaba season.
Beyond tourism, TAWA is conducting public education sessions on coexisting with wildlife, with a focus on how communities can prevent conflict with dangerous or destructive animals by understanding their behavior.
To complement the experience, the pavilion is offering well-prepared nyama pori choma (grilled wild meat), cooked to high standards and served at affordable prices, giving visitors a culinary taste of Tanzania’s wildlife heritage.
TAWA’s presence at the DITF underscores its commitment to conservation, public awareness, and the promotion of Tanzania’s untapped tourism potential.
