Tanzania is preparing to send its national team, the "Tembo Warriors," to compete in the East and Central Africa CECAFA Games for People with Disabilities, scheduled for September this year in Bujumbura, Burundi.

Julius Koyi, President of the Tanzania Football Federation for People with Disabilities (TAFF), told The Respondent Online that preparations are well underway, with the selection process for players currently in progress.

He explained that the head coach has identified a preliminary group of players who will soon be reviewed and approved by the federation’s Executive Committee to form the official squad.

“The recent trials involved young athletes from various regions across mainland Tanzania and Zanzibar. We are confident that the coach has assembled a diverse and competitive team capable of delivering a strong performance on the international stage,” Koyi said.

Following the finalization of the team roster, the federation will commence early preparations, enabling the coach to thoroughly evaluate the players, foster team chemistry, and build cohesion ahead of the tournament.

Koyi added that the team is expected to enter training camp by the end of this month to begin intensive preparations for the international competition.
