The Sixth Phase Government under President Samia Suluhu Hassan has allocated a total of TZS 3.2 billion for the construction of two modern secondary schools in Rombo District, Kilimanjaro Region.
The funds, released through the Secondary Education Quality Improvement Project (SEQUIP), aim to improve access to quality education and learning facilities in the area.
Each school Holili Secondary School and Rombo Technical Secondary School (Amali) received TSh 1.6 billion to support infrastructure development.
Holili Secondary School, which also hosts the newly established Prof. Adolf Mkenda Ward School, has already completed its first phase of construction, and teaching activities have commenced.
Completed structures at Holili include eight classrooms, an administration block, three science laboratories for Physics, Chemistry, and Biology, a library, an ICT room, a solid waste incinerator, eight latrine units, and a water tank.
These facilities are already in use, reflecting the government’s commitment to fast-tracking development in education.
Under the second phase of construction, the school is finalising additional facilities, including two dormitory blocks, four more classrooms, eight new latrine units, and a semi-detached teacher’s house.
The expansion is expected to significantly improve the learning environment for students in the Holili area.
At the same time, construction of the Rombo Technical Secondary School (Amali) is progressing well in Kitowo village, Marangu Kitowo Ward.
The school, which is being built to meet the growing demand for technical and vocational education, is at the final stages of completion.
Key facilities under construction at Amali include eight classrooms, an administrative block, three science laboratories, a single-unit teacher’s house, a library, an ICT room, eight latrine units, and a solid waste incinerator.
