Yanga Sports Club’s boxing stars, Denis Nkane and Shomary Kibwana, are set to lock horns in a high-stakes bout at the much anticipated Dar Boxing Derby, scheduled for July 26, 2025, at the Leaders Club grounds in Dar es Salaam.

The duel promises to be a thrilling spectacle as both fighters have publicly declared their readiness and determination to emerge victorious.

During the official press briefing held on July 15, organized by Peak Time Media & Sports Agency under promoter Seleman Semunyu, the two pugilists exchanged confident remarks, signaling an intense battle ahead.

Denis Nkane assured fans that his preparations have been thorough, and he warned Kibwana to brace for a fierce encounter.

“My opponent has issued threats, but I am unfazed. Anything can happen in the ring, especially here in Dar es Salaam. I welcome him to the city on July 26, where I will unleash my signature ‘Stone Punch’,” Nkane declared confidently.

Kibwana fired back, expressing that his motivation stems from prior disagreements and urging Nkane to come prepared.

“I want to make it clear: Nkane is inexperienced compared to me. I’ve been sent to settle this fight. While he indulges in chips, I come from a tougher background. I bring with me the ‘Funua’ punch, and I mean business,” Kibwana said, adding a note of seriousness to the upcoming clash.

Yanga Sports Club’s Communications Manager, Ally Kamwe, expressed strong support for the event, praising Peak Time Media & Sports Agency for their efforts in promoting boxing alongside football.

“Yanga is not just about football. We are proud to be involved in boxing as well. Our partnership with Peak Time Media & Sports Agency has strengthened over time through seminars and collaboration. This event will be monumental and is expected to captivate the entire nation,” Kamwe remarked.

Promoter Seleman Semunyu confirmed that preparations are progressing smoothly, with all fighters in peak condition and free from injuries.

“The Dar Boxing Derby is set to offer more than just intense boxing bouts; it will provide entertainment for Tanzanians across the board. I sincerely thank Yanga Club President, Engineer Hersi Saidi, for his unwavering support in allowing our fighters to participate. We are committed to a clean, competitive event with no room for shortcuts,” Semunyu stated.

Euro Max Marketing Director and event sponsor Peter Michael encouraged other corporate entities to join in supporting the sport.

“Our goal remains to discover, develop, and promote boxing talent in Tanzania. We urge more sponsors to come forward and collaborate with us to elevate the sport,” Michael said.
