Zanzibar President and Chairman of the Revolutionary Council, Dr. Hussein Ali Mwinyi, has reaffirmed the government’s commitment to creating a more enabling environment for business and investment in Tanzania.
Speaking during the official opening of the 49th Dar es Salaam International Trade Fair (DITF) at the Mwalimu Julius Nyerere Trade Fair Grounds on July 7, 2025, Dr. Mwinyi said the Government of Zanzibar, in collaboration with the Union Government, will continue working closely with the private sector, entrepreneurs, and investors to drive inclusive economic growth.
“The government is determined to walk hand in hand with the private sector, including small-scale entrepreneurs and large investors, to ensure that Tanzanians fully participate in the country’s development,” said Dr. Mwinyi.
He emphasized that sustained efforts to improve the business climate are crucial for attracting investment, boosting industrial development, and generating employment opportunities.
This year’s DITF has attracted over 5,700 exhibitors from within and outside the country, which, according to Dr. Mwinyi, demonstrates growing confidence in Tanzania’s trade and investment landscape.
He commended the Tanzania Trade Development Authority (TanTrade) and the Ministry of Industry and Trade for organizing the event to international standards. He also praised their efforts to promote Tanzania as a strategic business hub in Africa.
In a key highlight of the event, Dr. Mwinyi officially launched the “Made in Tanzania” national mark, aimed at boosting the visibility and competitiveness of local products in global markets.
“This mark is not just a label, it’s a symbol of quality, pride, and the uniqueness of Tanzanian goods and services. We must ensure that producers and consumers understand its value,” he stressed.
The President urged TanTrade and the Ministry to intensify awareness campaigns around the national branding initiative to encourage patriotism and consumer support for locally made products.
Earlier, Dr. Mwinyi toured several pavilions showcasing goods and services from Tanzanian and international companies. He interacted with business owners, including young entrepreneurs, and listened to their views on trade and investment challenges.
He later presented awards to the best-performing companies and major sponsors of the 2025 fair. He also received a special recognition award on behalf of himself and President Samia Suluhu Hassan for their leadership in promoting trade and investment in the country.
The “Made in Tanzania” initiative is part of broader national efforts to position the country as a competitive player in regional and global markets, by raising the quality and marketability of Tanzanian products.
