The Tanzania National Parks Authority (TANAPA) has formally sworn in Cecilia Mtanga as the new Assistant Conservation Commissioner, in a ceremony held on Friday at the Authority’s headquarters in Arusha.

Presiding over the ceremony, TANAPA’s Conservation Commissioner, CPA Musa Nassoro Kuji, congratulated Mtanga on the new role and urged her to maintain high standards of professionalism, accountability, and patriotism in safeguarding the country’s natural heritage.
“This appointment is not only a mark of confidence in your leadership, but also a call to strengthen conservation efforts across all our national parks,” said Kuji.
“We rely on your dedication to ensure our protected areas are managed efficiently for the benefit of present and future generations.”he added
He further called for unity among staff, stressing the importance of collaboration in achieving the Authority’s strategic conservation goals.
In her remarks, Mtanga expressed gratitude to the Board for the trust placed in her and pledged to serve with diligence and integrity.
“I’m humbled by this appointment and fully committed to working with my colleagues to protect and preserve Tanzania’s rich biodiversity. We must ensure that our natural heritage remains a source of pride and sustainability for generations to come,” she said.
Mtanga’s elevation to the leadership position is expected to boost TANAPA’s institutional capacity, particularly in human resource development and strategic conservation management.
