Minister of State in the President’s Office – Regional Administration and Local Government , Mohamed Mchengerwa, has commended Kibaha Secondary School for its continued academic excellence, urging the school to maintain its high standards even as student numbers rise.
Speaking during an official visit to the school on Monday, Mr Mchengerwa inspected various learning facilities including classrooms, science laboratories, and student dormitories.
He also interacted with newly admitted Form Five students and held a consultative session with the teaching staff.
“I am pleased with the outstanding work being done here. Kibaha has consistently remained among the best-performing schools nationally,” he said.
The minister’s visit comes in the wake of increased Form Five enrolment at the school, a result of the government’s broader push to expand access to advanced-level secondary education.
Mr Mchengerwa stressed the need for school leadership to adopt proactive strategies to ensure that academic performance remains unaffected by the rising student population.
“This year we’ve increased Form Five intake. I urge the teachers to develop effective strategies that will preserve the same level of academic achievement,” he said.
According to the Coast Region’s Education Officer, Mr Jimmy Daudi Nkwamu, the school posted a 93.7 percent pass rate in the 2025 Form Six national examinations, with 136 out of 140 candidates securing Division One.
For the 2024 Form Four cohort, 52 percent of students attained Division One, with no student recording Division Three, Four, or Zero.
In an effort to address education challenges across the region, Mr Mchengerwa directed the regional education office to embark on a tour of all districts in Coast Region to assess and respond to issues affecting learning environments.
“I want you to step out of the office and visit every district. Identify problems and implement timely solutions,” he said.
The minister’s visit underscores the government’s commitment to strengthening the quality of education through accountability, strategic planning, and infrastructural investment, as part of its long-term goal to nurture Tanzania’s human capital.
