Mbeya District Council Executive Director Erica Yegella has called on Yas Communications to expand its footprint in the council area, pointing to a range of untapped economic opportunities, especially in agriculture, trade, transport, and digital communication.
Speaking during a visit to Yas’s Mbeya branch office, Ms. Yegella said the council offers a conducive investment environment, thanks to reforms under the Sixth-Phase Government aimed at easing business operations and attracting both domestic and international investors.
“We welcome Yas Communications to explore the growing investment prospects within Mbeya DC. Agriculture, in particular, has seen steady growth through improved value chains, while digital infrastructure and e-commerce remain critical areas needing expanded services,” she said.
She emphasized the government’s commitment to improving infrastructure and policy frameworks to facilitate long-term investment partnerships.
“Our doors are open. Mbeya DC is ready to collaborate with serious investors to fast-track development,” she added.
On his part, Yas Communications Mbeya Branch Manager Christopher Swai commended the district’s leadership for its proactive approach, pledging that the company would continue expanding its telecommunications services across the region, including in underserved areas of Mbeya DC.
“We appreciate the support from local government authorities. As a company, we are committed to investing in areas that will boost connectivity and drive economic inclusion,” Mr. Swai said.
The call aligns with broader efforts to promote rural connectivity and economic empowerment through digital access in line with national development goals.
