Prime Minister Kassim Majaliwa on Monday, July 28, 2025, represented President Dr. Samia Suluhu Hassan at the official opening of the 4th Afri-Caribbean Trade and Investment Forum (ACTIF 2025), a high-level platform aimed at unlocking trade and investment opportunities between Africa and the Caribbean.
The opening ceremony, held in the capital city of St. George’s, brought together Heads of State and Government, senior policymakers, and private sector leaders from across the two regions.
The event marks a renewed push to strengthen South-South cooperation through economic diplomacy, policy coordination, and commercial partnerships.
Speaking on behalf of President Samia, Mr. Majaliwa reaffirmed Tanzania’s commitment to advancing intra-African and Afro-Caribbean trade and emphasized the need to leverage shared historical ties for mutual economic gain.
“This forum offers a unique opportunity to build bridges of prosperity between our people. We must act boldly and collaboratively to unlock the full potential of trade, tourism, and investment across our regions,” Mr. Majaliwa said.
Organized under the theme ‘One People. One Destiny. Uniting Africa and the Caribbean for Shared Prosperity’, ACTIF 2025 is spearheaded by the African Export-Import Bank (Afreximbank) in collaboration with the Government of Grenada and the Caribbean Community (CARICOM).
Key focus areas of the forum include food security, climate resilience, energy transition, creative industries, digital transformation, and cross-border investments.
Strategic business-to-business (B2B) sessions, ministerial roundtables, and investment pitching platforms are expected to facilitate new partnerships and deals.
Tanzania’s presence at ACTIF 2025 signals the country’s growing interest in expanding its global economic footprint, particularly through new alliances beyond traditional markets.
It also aligns with President Samia’s broader agenda of promoting trade, attracting foreign direct investment (FDI), and enhancing Tanzania’s competitiveness on the world stage.
The ACTIF initiative, which began in 2022, continues to gain momentum as both regions seek to capitalize on opportunities arising from the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) and broader global south cooperation frameworks.
The forum runs through July 30, 2025, with high expectations for bold declarations and transformative partnerships.
