The Tanzania Revenue Authority (TRA) has reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening partnerships with the business community as part of its ongoing national campaign aimed at enhancing tax education and resolving challenges faced by taxpayers.
Speaking in Geita during a high-level engagement with executives from Geita Gold Mining Limited (GGM), the Deputy Commissioner for Large Taxpayers, Mr. Gabriel Kimweri, said the initiative is designed to foster open dialogue and create a more transparent and cooperative tax environment.
“I am greatly encouraged by the willingness of companies like GGM to engage directly with TRA. This kind of proactive dialogue helps us to better understand taxpayer concerns and to work together towards fair and efficient solutions,” Mr. Kimweri said.
The meeting is part of TRA’s ongoing "Taxpayer Education and Listening Campaign," which aims to bring tax services closer to businesses and promote voluntary compliance through education, trust-building, and responsive service delivery.
Representing GGM and its parent company AngloGold Ashanti, Vice President of Tax Mr. Gelishan Naicko commended TRA’s Large Taxpayer Department for its consistent support and professionalism.
“We appreciate the open channels of communication TRA has created. It has enabled us to meet our tax obligations reliably and without conflict. This cooperation is vital for a stable and predictable business environment,” Mr. Naicko noted.
The TRA’s campaign reflects broader national efforts to strengthen revenue collection while supporting economic growth.
By addressing concerns raised by the private sector, TRA aims to improve compliance, foster investment, and contribute to sustainable development.
TRA has pledged to continue engaging with various stakeholders across the country, ensuring that the tax system remains fair, transparent, and supportive of national progress.
