Kigoma— Prime Minister Kassim Majaliwa today visited the Sanganigwa Children’s Care Center in Kigoma, a facility for vulnerable children operated by the Catholic Diocese of Kigoma, underscoring the government’s recognition of faith-based organizations in delivering social welfare services.

Speaking during the visit, Majaliwa commended the Catholic Church and other non-state actors for their continued partnership in supporting disadvantaged children.

He reaffirmed the government’s commitment to working with religious institutions to address social development challenges.

“On behalf of President Dr. Samia Suluhu Hassan, I extend our sincere gratitude to the Catholic Diocese of Kigoma and all supporting individuals and organizations for their invaluable role in caring for our children,” Majaliwa said.

“Your efforts reflect a deep commitment to both humanitarian values and national development.”he added

According to the center’s director, Keneth Hageze, Sanganigwa was established in 1995 and has since supported over 1,300 children.

The facility offers shelter, education, and psychosocial support to orphans and vulnerable children in the region.

As part of his visit, the Prime Minister donated essential supplies, including rice, beans, cooking oil, sugar, and sanitary products, aimed at improving the welfare of the center’s residents.

Tanzania has increasingly leaned on public-private partnerships, particularly with religious institutions, to fill gaps in health, education, and social services as part of its broader development agenda.
