Tanzania receives special message from Comoros ahead of Jubilee

Tanzania and the Union of Comoros have reaffirmed their strong diplomatic ties ahead of Comoros’ 50th independence anniversary, as the Minister for Foreign Affairs and East African Cooperation,  Ambassador Mahmoud Thabit Kombo, received a special message from Comorian President Azali Assoumani on behalf of President Samia Suluhu Hassan.

The message was officially delivered by Comoros’ Secretary to the President and Minister of Defence,  Youssoufa Mohamed Ali, during a visit to the Ministry’s offices in Dar es Salaam.

Kombo said the message signifies the deepening bond between the two nations and confirmed that President Samia was pleased with Comoros’ decision to partner with Tanzania during its golden jubilee celebrations scheduled for July 6, 2025, in Moroni.

“I thank you, Hon. Youssoufa Mohamed Ali, for bringing this important message to our President. President Samia is honoured by Comoros’ choice of Tanzania as a strategic partner in these landmark celebrations,” he stated.

Highlighting the long-standing historical ties, Minister Kombo emphasized that the two countries have enjoyed strong cooperation over the past five decades across political, social, and diplomatic sectors.

 He noted that new opportunities continue to emerge through regional development plans and global partnerships.

For his part, Youssoufa praised President Samia for her leadership and dedication to promoting regional cooperation, particularly in economic diplomacy, trade, and investment. 

He expressed appreciation for Tanzania’s role in strengthening bilateral relations and supporting shared development goals.

The diplomatic exchange was witnessed by Deputy Minister for Foreign Affairs and East African Cooperation,Dennis Londo, Comoros Ambassador to Tanzania,Dr. El Badaoui Mohamed, and senior officials from the ministry.

The message symbolizes the growing unity and shared vision between the two Indian Ocean neighbors as they work to unlock greater regional collaboration and prosperity.
