Member of Parliament for Dodoma Urban,Anthony Mavunde, has unveiled a new digital reporting system that will allow residents to submit their concerns swiftly through their local leaders, marking a significant step in improving public service delivery.
Speaking during the launch, which also included the distribution of smartphones to 222 ward chairpersons, Mavunde said the initiative is designed to strengthen communication between citizens and decision-makers while ensuring that pressing community challenges are addressed promptly.
“This system will bring government services closer to the people,” said Mavunde. “Ward chairpersons will now be able to submit community concerns directly to the District Commissioner’s Office, my parliamentary team, and to me personally without delays or the need for follow-up phone calls.”he added
According to the MP, the smartphones provided will serve as essential tools for tracking, documenting, and sharing reports, especially from neighborhoods that previously lacked efficient channels of communication.
The devices were locally manufactured by Raddy Electronics, a Tanzanian-owned company based in Mkuranga, Coast Region.
Mavunde commended the firm for supporting local innovation and contributing to the development of solutions tailored to national needs.
David Ndejembi, Chairperson of Ward Leaders in Dodoma Urban, praised the MP’s commitment to grassroots development and pledged to use the system effectively.
“This platform is going to revolutionize how we serve our communities. We thank Hon. Mavunde for constantly empowering us to be more responsive,” said Ndejembi.
In a further show of support, Mavunde also contributed TSh 10 million to the Dodoma Urban Ward Leaders’ SACCOS, reinforcing his commitment to the welfare of local government representatives.
The launch of the digital platform comes at a time when the government is pushing for increased use of technology to improve efficiency, transparency, and accountability in public service.
The initiative is expected to serve as a model for other constituencies aiming to modernize citizen engagement.
