Tanzania aiming to upset Eswatini's COSAFA progress tomorrow

Tanzania is set to face Eswatini in their final group stage match of the COSAFA Cup tomorrow in South Africa, with both teams hoping to end the tournament on a positive note.

Tanzania enters the match without a point, having lost both of their previous games. Eswatini, meanwhile, has one point following a 1-1 draw against Madagascar. Madagascar currently leads the group with four points.

Although Tanzania is already out of contention for a place in the next round, the result of this match could determine Eswatini's fate.

A convincing win for Eswatini, combined with favorable results elsewhere, could still see them through. However, Tanzania could play the role of spoilers by denying their opponents a chance to progress.

Speaking ahead of the game, Taifa Stars head coach Hemed Suleiman 'Morocco' expressed optimism, saying the team has used the time between matches to make key improvements.

“We’ve had a good opportunity to address the weaknesses we saw in our last game,” said Morocco. “Despite some players leaving the camp and others picking up injuries, I believe the squad we have now is capable of delivering a strong performance.”

Defender Lusajo Mwaikenda echoed his coach’s sentiments, saying the team is determined to bounce back after their disappointing defeat to Madagascar.

“We were hurt by the result in the first match, but we’ve prepared well. We’ve corrected our mistakes and are confident we can secure three points against Eswatini,” he said.

Midfielder Pascal Msindo added that although Eswatini will be pushing for a win to keep their tournament hopes alive, Tanzania is equally motivated to earn a victory and restore pride in their campaign.

“We’re focused on finishing with a win. We may not progress, but we want to walk away with our heads held high,” said Msindo.
