Iringa District Commissioner, Comrade Kheri James, today officially welcomed a team of eight specialist doctors who have arrived in the district to implement the “Samia Specialist Doctors Campaign.”
The campaign aims to bring advanced medical services closer to the community, enhance the capacity of local health professionals, promote knowledge exchange, and reduce the financial burden of accessing specialist care for residents.
In Iringa District, the six-day medical camp will be held at Frelimo Hospital from June 2 to June 6, 2025, with services offered daily from 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM.
During the camp, the specialist doctors will offer a wide range of medical services, including urological surgery, obstetrics and gynecology, internal medicine, orthopedics, dental and oral health, anesthesiology, ENT (ear, nose, and throat), as well as neonatal care.
Speaking at the reception event, Comrade Kheri James encouraged residents to take full advantage of the opportunity by attending the camp to receive medical consultations and treatment. He also assured the medical team of the district’s full support and cooperation throughout their stay.
The Samia Specialist Doctors Campaign is one of the government’s flagship initiatives aimed at expanding access to quality healthcare, especially for underserved populations and those who cannot afford to travel to regional or referral hospitals.
As part of his activities, the District Commissioner also toured Frelimo Hospital to assess the current service delivery, and he took time to speak with patients and nurses—commending them for their dedication and high standards of care.
