The Regional Commissioner of Manyara, Queen Cuthbert Sendiga, has praised the Simanjiro District Council for receiving a clean audit report from the Controller and Auditor General (CAG) for the 2023 financial year, ending June 2024.

Sendiga made the commendation during a Simanjiro District Council meeting, where councilors reviewed the CAG audit report for the 2023/2024 financial year, which confirmed the council’s achievement of a clean audit certificate.

He congratulated the council for maintaining high standards of accountability and urged them to ensure that all audit queries are fully addressed to prevent recurring issues.

“Each department and unit head must take full responsibility within their scope of work. Appropriate disciplinary action should be taken against any staff responsible for outstanding audit queries,” Sendiga emphasized.

The Executive Director of Simanjiro District Council, Gracian Max Makota, reported that the council faced a total of 42 audit queries for the 2023/2024 financial year.

Of these, 28 queries were identified and addressed during the current financial year, while 14 queries originated from previous periods, spanning 2017/2018 to 2022/2023.

Makota highlighted that the council successfully closed 15 of the 42 queries after the CAG reviewed and accepted their responses.

“However, 27 queries remain unresolved: 11 from the current 2023/2024 period and 4 from previous years,” he added.

Makota expressed sincere gratitude to the council chairperson, the regional commissioner, the district commissioner, the member of parliament, councilors, and other stakeholders for their support in helping the council achieve the clean audit report.

“The Simanjiro District Council pledges to maintain and improve its performance to consistently secure clean audit reports in the future,” Makota affirmed.

Simanjiro District Commissioner Fakii Raphael Lulandala also commended the councilors for their cooperation throughout their tenure.

Lulandala urged the councilors to use the remaining time in office to communicate with their constituents about the development milestones achieved under the sixth phase government.

“Councilors, you should highlight the positive accomplishments of President Samia Suluhu Hassan’s administration, as well as your own contributions. I expect many of you to seek re-election, given the good work you have done,” Lulandala concluded.
