The World Health Organization (WHO) Regional Director for Africa and outgoing Chief Executive Officer of Muhimbili National Hospital (MNH), Professor Mohamed Janabi, has called on the hospital’s leadership and staff to strengthen unity, uphold professional ethics, and embrace innovation to elevate the quality and appeal of services provided at MNH.
Prof. Janabi delivered this message on June 5, 2025, during a farewell and congratulatory event organized by the hospital’s management in his honor.
“I sincerely thank each and every one of you who supported me during my time here. I believe there is still much to be accomplished, and I had hoped to witness more progress.
However, the foundation for true and lasting development lies in building strong systems and fostering unity not in depending on one individual,” said Prof. Janabi.
He further noted that in his new capacity as WHO Regional Director for Africa, his mission is to support African nations, including Tanzania, in strengthening their health systems and achieving self-sufficiency in the production of essential medicines and medical supplies.
Meanwhile, the Acting Executive Director of MNH-Mloganzila, Dr. Elineema Meda, congratulated Prof. Janabi on his new appointment and expressed gratitude for his visionary leadership, noting that MNH will continue to take pride in the legacy he leaves behind.
