Bakari Shime, Head Coach of the Tanzania Women’s National Team, Twiga Stars, has stated that the two international friendly matches have been instrumental in shedding light on his squad as they prepare for the upcoming WAFCON tournament, scheduled to take place in Morocco.

Tanzania emerged victorious in both matches against DR Congo, winning 2-1 in the first leg, and 3-1 in the return match played yesterday.

Coach Shime praised his players for their strong performances, attributing the success to their discipline and adherence to his tactical instructions.

“The technical bench observed that the team played well. Our primary focus now is to perform strongly at the Cecafa tournament and subsequently at WAFCON,” he remarked.

Player Opa Clement also reflected positively on the matches, noting that they created and capitalized on numerous scoring opportunities to secure the wins.

He added that DR Congo has qualified for the tournament as well, making these matches a crucial test and preparation ahead of WAFCON.

“I trust the coach has identified our weaknesses and will work to address them. We will return to the training ground ready to absorb his guidance and improve our performance,” Clement stated.
