The Kilimanjaro Regional Commissioner,Nurdin Babu, has instructed the Director of Rombo District Council to utilize internal revenue funds to renovate dilapidated classrooms at Kwaktau Primary School, aiming to create a more conducive learning environment for students.
He issued the directive on June 13 during an inspection of newly constructed school infrastructure, including seven primary school classrooms, two for pre-primary education, sixteen toilet pits, an incinerator, an administration building, and a perimeter fence all developed at a cost of TZS 340 million.
Babu commended the Rombo District Commissioner, Raymond Mwangwala, and his team for their effective oversight of the projects, which have been implemented to high standards and with an attractive appearance that encourages increased student attendance.
He emphasized that investment in education is the foundation of any society's development, and it is therefore essential to ensure that every student has access to safe and appealing learning environments.
He added that well-structured schools contribute positively to students' psychological well-being and motivate them to achieve their academic goals.
During the visit, some local residents had the opportunity to voice their concerns, particularly regarding older schools that have not been renovated for many years.
Babu assured them that the government is committed and will continue to collaborate with local leaders to ensure that every child studies in a quality environment.
In response, the Director of Rombo District Council pledged to promptly implement the directive using internal revenue funds, and called upon the community to take an active role in safeguarding and maintaining school infrastructure for the benefit of future generations.
