Government reaffirms safe guarding albino and safety of persons with albinism during the national commemoration of International Albinism Awareness Day at Mwanga Centre grounds in Kigoma.

Representing President Dr. Samia Suluhu Hassan, Prime Minister Kassim Majaliwa led the event, emphasizing the critical need for inclusive democratic participation under this year’s national theme: “Participation in Elections is Our Right: To Vote and Be Voted For, Protect the Rights of Persons with Albinism.” he added

The event brought together stakeholders from government, civil society, and the albinism community to advocate for stronger protections against discrimination and violence, while promoting the full inclusion of persons with albinism in political and social life.

Prime Minister Majaliwa called on all Tanzanians to support continued public education campaigns and policies that empower persons with albinism to exercise their rights freely and safely, underscoring the government’s dedication to creating an environment of respect and equality.

The global theme for this year’s observance, “Demanding Our Rights, Protecting Our Skin, Preserving Our Lives,” further reinforces the urgent need to uphold and defend the rights of persons with albinism nationwide.
