Tanzania’s Ministry of Energy, alongside its affiliated agencies, is actively participating in the National Public Service Week held at Chinangali grounds in Dodoma.

The week-long event, which started on June 16, focuses on enhancing public sector transparency and efficiency through digital technology.

The theme for this year’s celebration is “Promote the Use of Digital Systems to Enhance Access to Information and Foster Accountability.”

Ministry officials presented key milestones achieved in the energy sector, notably the completion of the Julius Nyerere Hydropower Project, which is set to significantly boost the country’s power generation capacity. In parallel, efforts to expand electricity access in rural areas continue to advance.

In line with the government’s commitment to sustainable development, the Ministry is also raising public awareness on the Clean Cooking Energy Strategy, a national initiative to promote the use of clean and affordable cooking fuels, thereby improving health outcomes and environmental sustainability.

Participating institutions include the Tanzania Electric Supply Company (TANESCO), Petroleum Upstream Regulatory Authority (PURA), Energy and Water Utilities Regulatory Authority (EWURA), Tanzania Petroleum Development Corporation (TPDC), Rural Energy Agency (REA), and Petroleum Bulk Procurement Agency (PBPA).

The Public Service Week offers a platform for government agencies to engage with citizens, highlight their achievements, and reinforce accountability through increased transparency and digital innovation.
