The Minister for Education, Science, and Technology, Prof. Adolf Mkenda, has reaffirmed the government’s commitment to vocational education, recognizing it as a key driver of national development by equipping young people with practical skills for economic empowerment.
Speaking on June 1, 2025, during a land handover ceremony in Kichokochwe Village, Wete, Pemba, where local residents donated land for the construction of a vocational school, Prof. Mkenda praised the community for their contribution, calling it a vital step toward sustainable development.
"Her Excellency Dr. Samia Suluhu Hassan, President of the United Republic of Tanzania, has directed the construction of vocational training schools. In Zanzibar, one will be established in Wete Kojani, and another in South Unguja. Students completing Form Four will graduate with both a secondary education certificate and a vocational qualification," Prof. Mkenda stated.
He further emphasized that the Government of the United Republic of Tanzania, in collaboration with the Revolutionary Government of Zanzibar, is committed to enhancing education infrastructure and expanding opportunities including access to higher education loans ensuring that Tanzanian youth receive a high-quality education that will transform their lives.
