Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Energy, Dr. Doto Biteko, is set to officiate the 2025 Energy Bonanza this Saturday, June 28, at Jamhuri Grounds in Dodoma.
Organised by the Ministry of Energy and its affiliated institutions, the event aims to promote physical well being among public servants, foster inter institutional collaboration, and encourage civic participation in the upcoming General Election.
Now in its second year, the Energy Bonanza was first launched in 2024 under Dr. Biteko’s leadership. This year’s edition is expected to draw more than 1,000 participants from across the energy sector and beyond.
Speaking ahead of the event, Ms. Neema Mbuja, Head of Government Communication at the Ministry of Energy, said preparations are complete and participating teams have already arrived in Dodoma
“The Energy Bonanza is more than just a sports day,” she said. “It is an opportunity for colleagues to connect outside of the office, promote healthy lifestyles, and reflect on our collective responsibility as citizens especially as we approach the 2025 General Election.”
This year’s event will be held under the theme: "Sports for Better Health, Participate in the 2025
Elections," aligning with national efforts to raise awareness on the importance of voter turnout.
Activities will include competitive and recreational games such as football, netball, volleyball, basketball, tug of war, traditional games like bao and drafti, and even the light-hearted “chicken chase” a crowd favourite
Participating institutions include the Tanzania Electric Supply Company (TANESCO), Rural Energy Agency (REA), Tanzania Petroleum Development Corporation (TPDC), Petroleum Upstream Regulatory Authority (PURA), Energy and Water Utilities Regulatory Authority (EWURA), Tanzania Geothermal Development Company (TGDC), Energy Transmission Development Company (ETDCO), Tanzania Commercial Petroleum Marketing (TCPM), TANOIL, GASCO, and the Petroleum Bulk Procurement Agency (PBPA).
The Energy Bonanza continues to position itself as a key platform for promoting wellness, unity, and democratic values among public servants and the wider community.
