CHANETA urges regions to complete Netball Leagues by June

The Tanzania Netball Association (CHANETA) has called on all its member regions to complete their regional third-division netball leagues by the end of June 2025.

This directive aims to ensure that promoted teams are identified in time to participate in the upcoming National Second Division League, scheduled for August this year.

Speaking to Respondent Online, CHANETA Chairperson Dr. Devotha Marwa emphasized the importance of regional leagues in identifying and nurturing talent for national-level competition.

“We are encouraging all regions to organize and complete their leagues so that young players have a platform to showcase their skills and earn opportunities to join the national team,” said Dr. Marwa.

She stressed that participation in competitions across all levels is a key requirement for any player aspiring to represent Tanzania at the national level.

“A player must go through various competitive stages and demonstrate both skill and commitment. That’s why we’re insisting on these regional leagues failing to conduct them limits opportunities for young talent,” she explained.

Dr. Marwa also noted that CHANETA has introduced more competitions to help players gain experience and be recognized progressively.

She confirmed that several regions including Dar es Salaam, Lindi, Manyara, Dodoma, and Singida have already completed their leagues and submitted their promoted teams, which have received confirmation letters for participation in the upcoming national league season. Other regions are expected to begin their competitions later this month.
