Members of the Chama Cha Mapinduzi (CCM) London Diaspora branch have visited the Zanzibar House of Representatives, where they observed legislative proceedings and held discussions with government officials on development and investment opportunities.

The delegation of more than 10 Tanzanians living in the United Kingdom was led by Mr. Haruna Rajabu Mbeyu.

The visit, which took place on June 5, 2025, aimed to strengthen ties between the diaspora community and the Revolutionary Government of Zanzibar.

While at the House, the group was received by the Minister of State in the President’s Office (Ikulu), Mr. Ali Suleiman Ameir, who commended the diaspora for their continued contribution to national development.

“Zanzibar values its diaspora community. You play a vital role in building our nation, and we are committed to ensuring your rights are protected,” said Mr. Ameir.

He added that the government, through special arrangements, would continue to support skilled diaspora members with access to employment and contract opportunities through established diaspora desks.

“Home will always be home. When the time is right, come back and contribute. Continue to be our ambassadors abroad. Speak positively about Zanzibar and Tanzania—we are a peaceful people, and we must protect that peace,” he said.

Mr. Mbeyu said the visit was part of ongoing efforts by the diaspora to learn more about government initiatives and explore areas of collaboration.

“Zanzibar has a strong and well-structured Diaspora office, and we are here to build on that foundation and identify ways we can support,” he said.

The group has been in Zanzibar since June 3, 2025. Their visit is part of a broader initiative to enhance cooperation between Tanzanians living overseas and the government, particularly through the CCM party’s development agenda.
