The Business Registrations and Licensing Agency (BRELA) in Tanzania has announced a dividend payment of TZS 20.4 billion ($7.8 million USD), based on current exchange rates) to the government for the 2025 financial year.
This represents an increase from the TZS 18.9 billion ($7.2 million USD) contributed in 2024.
The handover took place on Tuesday, June 10, 2025, at State House in Dar es Salaam. President Samia Suluhu Hassan formally received the funds during a ceremony involving various public institutions and corporations making their annual contributions.
BRELA was also recognised at the event for its consistent financial performance, receiving an award for its regular dividend contributions.
The agency ha reportedly maintained an average annual contribution of 16.8 billion Shillings ($6.4 million USD) over the past five years.
The dividend payments from state-owned enterprises are a significant source of non-tax revenue for the Tanzanian government, contributing to national development projects and public services.
Among those present at the ceremony were Professor Neema Mori, Chairperson of BRELA's Advisory Board, and Godfrey Nyaisa, BRELA's Chief Executive Officer.
