Tabora United endured a tough afternoon after being hammered 5-0 by Azam FC in a one-sided NBC Premier League clash held on June 18, 2025, at the Azam Complex in Chamazi, Dar es Salaam.
Azam started the match strongly, opening the scoring in the 11th minute through Abdul Selemani Sopu, setting the tone for what would become a dominant performance.
Just six minutes later, in the 17th minute, Gibril Sillah doubled the lead with a well-taken goal. The Gambian forward continued to shine and added his second of the match in the 30th minute, giving Azam a commanding 3-0 lead.
As the first half approached its end, Azam showed no signs of slowing down. In the first minute of stoppage time (45+1), Iddy Nado struck a fourth goal to ensure the hosts went into halftime with a comfortable 4-0 advantage.
In the second half, Tabora United tried to regroup and tightened their defense, managing to hold off further damage for a large part of the half. However, in the 89th minute, Nassor Saadun added a fifth goal to cap off Azam’s dominant display.
The final whistle confirmed a convincing 5-0 victory for Azam FC, who were clearly the superior side throughout the match. For Tabora United, it was a humbling result and a performance they will look to bounce back from in their upcoming fixtures.
