Two people are currently held by the police on suspicion of murder in two separate incidents that occurred in the Ruhembe Police Division, Kilosa District.
Morogoro Regional Police Commander, Alex Mkama, said the first incident happened on May 26 this year in Simbalambende village, Ruaha ward, Kilosa district.
Mkama named Said Kandulu (52), a resident of Simbalambende, who died after being stabbed in the chest on the left side with a sharp object.
He identified the suspect as Lucas Zacharia Kanyenze (64), a resident of Hyamvisi, and said the motive behind the incident was jealousy in a love relationship.
“The deceased was accusing the suspect of having an affair with his divorced wife. The dispute was fueled by drunkenness,” he explained.
In the second incident, the police are holding Ayubu Rashid Ayubu (23), a resident of Gang'anda, on suspicion of killing his own father.
The commander said the incident happened on the morning of May 29 in Gang'anda hamlet, Mfuru village, Tegetero ward, Morogoro district.
He named Rashid Ayubu Juma (71), a resident of Gang'anda, who died after being attacked with a machete on the left side of his head while resting at home.
The young man suddenly attacked his father with a machete, apparently while cutting wood, causing the death. The suspect has been arrested, and the commander said the motive behind this incident was mental health problems.
